In Conversation explores the emotional residue of social exchanges—those layered, unpredictable moments that occur during dinner parties and casual gatherings. Inspired by the feeling of being both known and unknown in conversation, Walshe imagines how these interactions might look if made visible in form, texture, and colour.

The work is created from porcelain using fabric soaked in coloured clay slip, then fired. Much like the dynamic of conversation itself, the process is intentionally unpredictable—shaped as much by the kiln as by the artist’s hand.

The panel is made using old cloths previously used to clean up after meals, carrying with them the physical memory of shared moments. Through this transformation, Walshe captures the vulnerability, complexity, and spontaneity of connection—intimate, imperfect, and deeply human.
