Genevieve Walshe is a multidisciplinary artist. Walshe’s practice retains its fearless approach to making by being ever evolving. She release small collections of works that are derivative of moments in a passage of time. As Walshe delved further into functional wear she retained the passion for imaginative design, form and most importantly playful expression. Like an artwork, each functional vessel is crafted as its own entity. Not attempting to reproduce to identical perfection, but to only derive from the first and last. Walshe aims to build on the theory of craft as fine art, an everyday usable expression of the imperfect and unique human experience. Diverging from modern craft as a means of product of industrial design and closer to craft as art objects. Philosophically questioning how we interact with art on an everyday basis. In the world of over production, what does it mean to hold and use something that is truly one-of-a-kind?
